There seems to be a discrepancy between the Images and media policy, the Recording GIFs guide title, and the Template:Infobox animation override.

While the policy states the use of an mp4 is the way to go, the infobox template shows that a GIF file is to be used for animation. Also the guide title says "Recording GIFs," but the content shows how to make an mp4 file. Should these be changed to be less confusing, and is there a reason mp4 files are preferred over GIF files? Closed - The switch of preference from GIF to MP4 occurred as a result of Forum:Switching from .gif to .mp4 from about 2 months ago. I've updated the Template:Infobox animation override documentation to remove the reference to the GIF format. In future, feel free to be bold and update any discrepancies you see to match what is in the images and media policy. You can also discuss with other editors on our Discord server if there is any confusion. Closing this thread as it serves more as a question rather than a proposal. jayden 17:55, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
