Affiliation with the MechScape Wiki

Hi, I'm Dragongnexus, I come from the MechScape Wiki. MechScape is a game currently under processed and will be released soon made by the same makers of RuneScape, Jagex. MechScape and RuneScape are different games, but they are still related. I have come to ask for permission if you may want to help us build the MechScape Wiki, and also allow us to use some of your content such as policies and important, central content. If you have any questions, please come to our Wiki and post on the Main Page's talk page under the "Affiliation with the RuneScape Wiki" thread. Thank you. Dragongnexus 11:28, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm moving this from "Talk:RuneScape Wiki" to the Yew Grove. That is where we should discuss something like this. C.ChiamTalk 11:31, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much, your wiki, your rules, you put it where it should be, I don't work here so I wouldn't know. Dragongnexus 11:36, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Talk to us then. This needs to be dealt with asap. Dragongnexus 13:39, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Slight Support and Comment - it might take days for consensus to be reached, if at all. Since Wikis exist to help others, I guess we shouldn't mind copying our policies. Now that's a throwing weapon!Doucher4000******r4000I'll eat you! 14:54, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

I might as well support since RuneScape and MechScape are related. Andrew talk 15:20, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - Runescape and Mechscape are made by the same company and will most likely contain similar attributes so I say we should affiliate with them. HunterNuclear X2 16:38, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - I think we should affiliate with them. Allowing them to use our policies and such should make this wiki feel proud that we have developed something others wish to model.

Support - Due to both of them being from the same company, I feel that it should be linked together. ~MuzTalk 22:22, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - Affiliating with this wiki, just makes sense. They are going to be doing things in a very similar way as us, albiet for a different game, but I think we should be proud that someone want to use our policies. I say, borrow away. For that matter, I'd like anyone from MechScape to feel welcome to ask us wiki management questions. This wiki has been around the block and its users know a thing or two about running a wiki. Support - Per Bonzi. They will likely be similar games, but of course no one will know until it is released, whenever that may be.  Tien  12:48, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - Join my clan! The Great High Yak Hyyup! This is my most valuable item! --Goodison Goomba 12:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - Much per everyone else, I don't see why not. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 14:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Support -As per above. --Newspaper.pngNewspaper JackNewspaper.png 03:51, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Strongly Support and the MechScape Wiki ought to be considered a full-fledged sister site, and treated as such. There is likely to be some blending of both MechScape and RuneScape anyway (like references to Varrock or the gods) and article cross links will likely be quite common. Thing like a 9mm revolver have already shown up in RuneScape... in reference to what may end up in MechScape. --Robert Horning 22:08, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

LOL, space games generally don't have revolvers... that's like 18th century game or something... 00:15, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Info from MechScape - Not that it may or may not be of concern to any editor or contributor here, I think I can speak on behalf of the MechScape Wiki for all the support that have been received, and that if anyone from the RuneScape Wiki would like to devote any amount of time into helping the development of that wiki it would be appreciated. I'm believe I am only in position to post this as Dragongnexus has since become inactive on that wiki and I feel we should not lose site of the affilation without him as mediator. I am an active participant on the MechScape Wiki and would appreciate this affiliation very much. Thanks again.

I say this gets closed for now-Dragongnexus seems to have vandalized his own wiki! 7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 20:57, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I feel we shouldn't judge an entire community based on the actions of one corrupt (former) admin. Staff are currently undoing the damage and the wiki should be back in working order shortly.-- 21:11, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I also feel the same way as Azaz. Just because one editor decides to go on a rampage doesn't mean that everything else happens. If you take a look, the Wikia Staff are reverting everything, unblocking everyone, and also removing the offenders admin privileges. ~MuzTalk 21:14, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
It's all fixed up. We had mass vandals too at one time ;) 00:34, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
This indeed may not be a problem. Even I started as a vandal on this wiki (User page, archive 1, topic 1)-- Miasmic Blitz icon.png Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 05:54, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Additional Means of Affiliation

Well, as it appears we have lots of support, I would like to go into another topic with regards to this...How do we define a Sister Site and what do we do to keep the affiliation alive rather then just a link exchange.

I'm simply asking if that is all we do is a link exchange and permission to use policies, or can we do more. Like perhaps Cross Wikia challenges, cross wikia In-game battles (would be difficult as the games will be different) or something similar. Perhaps important RuneScape Wikia news could be featured on the MechScape Wikia and vice-versa...

We should elaborate more on what our affiliation would include.

I say wait until we see what MechScape is. If it is a completely different game, then we should not join sites. It is the same with the FunOrb wiki. Statistics.png Lvl 3 skils3 Choice! Talk~ Holiday Signup ~Hiscores 05:02, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Closed - We will wait until MechScape is released before deciding whether we should affiliate with MechScape Wiki. MechScape wiki has not been added to the list of "Sister wikis".   az talk   07:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
