Well, here I am again, with yet another of my fantastic ideas obvious sarcasm is obvious. I was thinking of making an aesthetic bullet (Sort of like the one here), but RuneScape themed. It would be a small image file, and used where people wanted to spice up a page a bit. Of course, it couldn't be used as a complete alternative to just using * or {{*}}, but it could be used in userpages and subspaces, or on the beginnings of quest guides, or in trivia sections of pages. It would be a completely different template from {{*}}, and I think something like {{RS*}} would work well. If you do decide to support, please give me an idea of what you'd want it to look like, such as a sword, quest icon, RS logo, or something like that. Adam SavageTalk 13:41, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Support - as nom Adam SavageTalk 13:41, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Support - Sounds fancy ^_^ I think a quest icon would look cool :p. 2-3 cake.png Feeshee yay!Corrupted Ascension signet III.png 13:46, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - Occasionally, since images are hosted on a different server than where the articles etc. are hosted, the images will not load. When that happens, using this will make the page look like a complete mess. Thus, it should not be used on any official namespace (mainspace, projectspace etc.) under any circumstance. If you want to use it on your userspace, go create the template on your userspace. bad_fetustalk 13:49, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

True, but if it were in the mainspace, other people could access it as well and use it for themselves. Adam SavageTalk 13:50, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
They can access it from your userspace as well. bad_fetustalk 14:39, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
Wouldn't that go for all images, making your point invalid? Or do I not understand? sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 16:30, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that it should be on userspace since it is not going to be used anywhere else, as adam said below. bad_fetustalk 16:57, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Neutral/Comment - I'm running AdBlock which, for some reason, is preventing little changes like this (see Gaz and his Potion thing for Support/Oppose) on my end, so this likely wouldn't affect me - however it sounds like a neat idea. Despite being neat, however, it can affect how the page looks and some people may not like that too much. Sheep chathead.png DumuzidSheep chathead.png 13:56, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - I think this would add to the appeal of the site and make our theme a little more "RuneScapey". But does anyone know how this will affect Monobook users? I know that Monobook is really old now, and that we should move on (I think we should at least), but for some reason there is a high percentage of Monobook users on this wiki. Chicken7 >talk 14:23, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Again, we cannot use it on articles themselves. It will look horrible when images don't load, and that happens way too often. bad_fetustalk 14:39, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
I use MonoBook since it resembles Monaco the most. And Oasis is crap and narrow. It messes up every article. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 15:01, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - Let's see an example first, shall we? User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 15:01, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Having to install updates on my good computer, so I'm unable to do it at the moment, but I'll have examples by the end of the day, and I will post them on this page. Adam SavageTalk 16:35, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Slight oppose - While it may add a slight visual improvement to pages, it's only that, a slight visual improvement. Like what Chess said, if the image server is down, the look of the page would be off. Lastly, in order to be consistent, it would be difficult to change the previous bullets to these new ones without just changing the template design. ~MuzTalk 15:03, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

They most likely won't ever be used on mainspace pages. Maybe on the homepage or something like that, but that's a discussion for another day. For now, it's only planned to be available for people to use on their subpages, userpages, talk pages, etc. for convenience and adding a more "RuneScape-ey" (quoted Chicken7) theme to certain things. Because, like above, image servers are down way too often lately to employ something like this across some 13,000 pages, or some ridiculous number like that, as it would look terrible to have broken image boxes wherever a bullet should be. And, it would be a new template, not a replacement of {{*}}. Adam SavageTalk 16:35, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - I've actually been thinking of doing this for a long time now. I wanted to try out the rune dagger, but I can't seem to rotate it in gimp without it losing quality. Therefore, without being able to see a test of it, I have no idea if it would good or just horrible. ɳex undique 16:42, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Strong Oppose - I think that the only colour to spice up a page are images, not bullets. It would look very strange on the page in my opinion (Random little pictures in front of text?). The dots are well known on ALL websites and I would like it to stay that way. Hair 18:14, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - I tried to get a template working in my subspace, but due to complications with the extimage template, I can't use external files, so I can't show what I was planning on showing. If everyone'd rather I make it in my subspace, I suppose that'd be fine with me. Adam SavageTalk 21:29, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - Wait, I'm confused. Are you proposing image bullets for use on articles, or are you proposing image bullets for use in the userspace? If the first, then I do think it would look bad and out of place, but when I get on the computer (I'm on my iPod) I'll try some stuff out in my sandbox. If the latter, then you can put in it in your userspace and you wouldn't need a discussion for this. On putting it in the tenplate namespace, given this will be for userspace use, what you need to think about is how widespread it's use will be, how many people are actually going to use it at the end of the day. I'm not entirely sure if putting this in the template namespace would be a good idea. Matt (t) 01:59, February 5, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - (1) I'm emotionally attached to square bullets, (2) images don't like loading for me (though based on the comments above, I'm glad I'm not the only one), and (3) previous experience with using custom images for bullets found them to look like crap and not serve any real function. Colour is good, but only if used appropriately. On a side note, I have no idea whether you want all bullets to look this way, just certain places or what, but I oppose there usage anywhere. Request to Close - I think there's been a general decision made, I'll make one in my userspace, and there won't be one made in the mainspace. Adam SavageTalk 07:14, February 5, 2012 (UTC)

Closed - Withdrawn. Matt (t) 09:46, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
