I'd like to propose that we move each page from the Yew Grove archive page, Forum:Yew Grove Archives Links removed, as pages have been moved, into its own thread here on the current version of Yew Grove. I was thinking about ways to better incorporate the archive contents of the old YG and I think that this solution would be beneficial for a few reasons:

  1. It would allow for the content of the archives to be searchable just like the current threads in YG
  2. We would no longer have a "split" format between threads of the new and old YG's
  3. The archive pages would have the same style as the current threads on YG
  4. Each archive page would show up on the main YG page just like every other thread
  5. These pages would be "naturally" archived like all other YG threads, dropping to the bottom of the list as the are not updated.
  6. This change would be easy and I would be happy to implement it quickly if the community consents

Initially the pages would show up as new threads (ex. Archive 1, Archive 2, etc.) and as other threads are updated, they would be pushed down to the bottom of the list.

I think this would look much nicer, be much more functional, and allow for a cleaner Yew Grove. Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 22:05, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

The following are possible courses of action:

  1. Add the archived pages from the old Yew Grove as threads to the new Yew Grove
  2. No action
  3. Add each individual section from the old Yew Grove as threads to the new Yew Grove (more work, but possible), about 200+ threads worth of work
  4. Just remove them from the stickied threads since they are just for reference (they'd still be accessable through YG)

Feel free to add other possible options to this list

Support option 1 - As nominator. Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 22:05, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Support option 2 - The archived discussion are probably closed, I don't see it necessary to bring them back on here. It would also let people edit discussions that have been long finished. Zaros tally.PNGBladeQuick chat button.png# 01:09, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

The discussions are already on the new YG under one big archive thread, stuck to the top of the page, and I'm not asking to unprotect any documents. I've put header at the top of each discussion (see Archive 1) clearly indicating that each page is a closed archive and any new discussion should be started on a new YG thread. Support option 3- Okay I think I misunderstood the first time, as long as they are protected it will at least be good to have easy access to them when needed. Zaros tally.PNGBladeQuick chat button.png# 13:43, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Support - As long as you are not just copy and pasting. You would need to move the page into the new setup and give it a new name, such as Old Yew Grove - Jan. 1 - Apr. 30. As these are archived and protected you would need a admin to make these changes. I would be willing to help.

I've actually already done the moving of the pages with the help of the admins and their history is intact. Right now they are named "Archive 1", "Archive 2", but that can be easily change to whatever we want by moving them to a new filename. The only thing we need to do to get them into the new YG is add the forum header. Thanks for offering to help. Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 20:44, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Support 1 or 3 - So long as they're aptly named, just putting them in the Yew Grove is fine... however option 3 appeals to me. If someone would be willing to do it, that would be awesome, and could save some time searching in future. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 11:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Support option 3 - This would be more organised, and it would be easier to find certain topics. It would be a lot of work, but we could make some sort of WikiGuild for people to help contribute to it (I would join). White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 11:33, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Option 3 as my 2nd pick - I know option 3 is a lot of work, but I'd go along with it if that's what the community prefers. I still personally prefer option 1, but I see both choices having benefits. Also if we split up pages like this, is there a way to preserve their histories? Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 03:16, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Support Option 1 - By doing option one we can preserve page histories and it is easiest to do. If we do option 3 we should create a new forum for the archives(Forum:Yew Grove Archives) so we do not flood the Yew Grove. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 23:47, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
