as always, a simple topic, that needs a community Discussion, today i whould like to make a request to change the old drop tabble


Here is a example of what im here to talk about, as you see, we got:

  • Always
  • Common
  • Rare
  • Very Rare

but here what i find the problem, items that are even more then very rare are mixed in with very rare, like the table above, so for e.g todays update, Squeal of Fortune, it really doesn't look right, some items are more then rare, like the the Rune platebody has the same chance as Lucky Armadyl chainskirt and that what i find wrong, to fix this problem, we add 1 new section, a section Called:

  • Unique

by adding it, then we can properly see the rarity of all items, as it just really atm, so by adding it, it look something like this:


Thoe it will be another color, so what you people think, shall we add a new section to help divide the Very Rare from the Super Mega Rare?

Please leave you comments below, as it a really useful idea, and can help alot.

Ah, then you aren't meaning unique rares but items dropped by only one unique monster. My apologies; I got the wrong impression. FiendOfLight (talk) 21:28, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose new category; slight oppose addition to exisiting categories - I don't see this working well. A monster can uniquely drop an item rarely - for example the corporeal beast uniquely drops divine sigils, and they are exceedingly rare - or it could uniquely drop an item often - such as talon beast charms which are a 100% drop from nail beasts only. Unique shouldn't be a separate category, nor should there be any extra categories, per Atlandy.

Unique could be added to the existing categories (e.g. |rarity= Rare, Unique), however that may cause confusion, and in any case, most of the time the uniquely dropped items are important enough to be mentioned on the page (and if not, they often should be, if they aren't mentioned elsewhere e.g. the quest article for the Rag and Bone Man bones). Oppose - I just don't see the benefit of it. Your proposal shows unique as being a new category. Unique doesn't necessarily have to be rare (or very rare, or whatever it's supposed to represent), and the article for the item itself should mention it's a unique drop anyway. Besides that, knowing an item is a unique drop from the monster you're fighting doesn't help the drop tables. The article itself likely mentions the drop anyway, in context. As for adding a new "even rarer than very rare" category, it's just a mess, since "very rare" can still cover it well. And as Atlandy said, less really is more. Oppose - As others have said, less is more. The original premise of the "drops table standardisation" was to have the least amount of rarities as possible. I think the link to simplify adding drops to a table would be rarely used, as monsters rarely get new drops. It will just invoke vandalism. About the new "Unique" category, it's a possibility. But wouldn't that "unique" item have a rarity of it's own? Like bones from the Rag and Bone Man quest are usually common, yet a note is added to state they are only dropped once, during the quest. Notes can be used in any other so-called "unique" cases. But nice ideas overall! Chicken7 >talk 09:21, March 4, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose A bit clumsy. Unique suggests to me that the item is only dropped once, like Elvarg's head, and there aren't enough of those to warrant this. Though, I do think there is a very large amount of Very Rare items (or items that are catagorised as such) whith very differing rarities (compare something like an elysian sigil to the dragon chainbody). Oppose - As homfic said, it wouldn't really work, for example mask part 5 for the mask of dragith nurn is a unique drop of dragith nurn, but it is actually quite common drop. There are many unique that are dropped often. Though the second part of more rare than rare my work on occasion, but I doubt it would be necessary, and it is hard enough to determine what's rare and what isn't -- Dragon longsword.png Cire04 TalkAttack.png 22:26, March 13, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - Unique pretty much just takes the item out of their current category and places it in another category that could easily be explained by a note if necessary. Troll general's bones would fit into the unique category but that would be an unnecessary categorisation given how the Troll general is unique and could easily be covered by the Always rarity What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 18:48, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - We could use Unique for drops that aren't effected by the ring of Wealth, althought firstly we dont know all drops that are unique (in this case I'm saying unique as if the item is not effected by the RoW) and secondly, as previously discussed, less is better.
