Fortune

This article is about the Invention perk. For other uses, see Fortune (disambiguation).

Fortune is an Ancient Invention perk that causes a tool to have a chance of doubling resources and automatically banking the doubled item. The doubled resource does not generate any experience. It can be created in ancient tool gizmos with classic or timeworn components.

In addition to the base resource output, Fortune will also double additional resources provided by other items and effects such as stone spirits, the Fishing cape and Mining cape perks, juju potions, the Honed perk (when mining) and the resourceful aura (when mining red or crystal-flecked sandstone). For example, if the perk activates while mining with stone spirits, it will double both the base ore and the extra ore provided by the stone spirit, resulting in a total of four times the ore.

An unusual side effect of Fortune is with the Polishing perk, despite the perk transmuting the item to a higher quality you are still given an increased resource yield of the previous item.

The perk yields a higher chance of receiving double resources (also works on artefacts gathered with Archaeology) on gathering skills when compared to production skills. This will also grant double experience upon activation for Archaeology materials. It does not affect the chance of obtaining materials from screening soil.

Following an update on 26 May 2020, the perk prioritises sending doubled Archaeology materials to the material storage container over the bank. Similarly, extra mined ores will be sent to the metal bank.

When activated, this message will appear: Your Fortune perk has doubled the following item and sent it to your bank: [amount] x [Item]. If the player has the doubled item in their material storage container, the message is accordingly Your Fortune perk has doubled the following item and sent it to your material storage: [amount] x [Item].
