Flying squid

Flying squids are a species native to the Wushanko Isles and the Eastern Sea. They are mentioned in player-owned port voyages, they are known to migrate west through Aminishi and to congregate around a deserted port city on Thalassia.

They can squirt an inky substance called squano. The captains in the player-owned port state that they are not flying like birds or turtles, but that they move using prolonged jumps. However, the squids in-game seem to be able to hover and move freely about in the air, as if they were underwater.

A few specimens of the species can be found in-game:

• Squeck, a pet that can be unlocked by redeeming a slimy egg found while fishing in Menaphos.
• Squick, a castaway that can be found on an uncharted island called Quis-land.
• Squoggoth, a pet that can be unlocked by redeeming a shadowy egg obtained as a drop from monsters in The Shadow Reef.
