Erethdor's grimoire is a pocket slot item obtained by redeeming an Erethdor's grimoire (token), which is a rare drop from Solak. It has the same stats as the illuminated god books along with similar functionality. It is unlocked together with a cosmetic override of the grimoire for off-hand magic weapons.

A grimoire redeemed from the token item comes with three hour's worth of charges.

It is recharged with torn grimoire pages, which are dropped by Solak, each adding 45 minutes to the grimoire's timer. The high upkeep of this item (each page costing 4,839,653 coins each, essentially making the hourly cost 6,436,738.49 coins), however, means it should be used sparingly and is best saved for speed kills or high-levelled and profitable content.

Combat stats[edit | edit source]

Effects[edit | edit source]

The grimoire has 2 effects when active.

  • Every non-bleed hit has a 12% chance to be forced to become a critical hit. This stacks with other critical hit chance boosts, such as the Biting perk.
  • The player's damage cap for critical hits is increased to 15,000, up from 12,000.

Interval[edit | edit source]

Erethdor's grimoire operates on multiple 10 tick (6 second) intervals. If the player deactivates an active grimoire, the amount of time remaining on the grimoire will reset back to the start of the interval.

Example[edit | edit source]

Take two sequential intervals in descending order: [50t,41t] and [40t,31t] (where t is a game tick = 0.6s of time)

If the player's grimoire is in the first interval, meaning that there are between 50 and 41 ticks remaining and the player deactivates it within this interval, then the amount of time remaining will be reset back to 50t. If the player again activates the grimoire and lets it degrade into the next interval, [40t,31t], and deactivates it within this interval, then the time remaining will be at 40t.

Interaction with Solak's arena[edit | edit source]

In Solak's arena (both inside and outside the instance), every 10 game ticks, +10 game ticks worth of time are added to the remaining time of an active Erethdor's grimoire, resulting in an effective net zero time used. If the player has 10 ticks of time remaining when activating the grimoire in the arena, then the grimoire will run out after 10 ticks pass. However, the player can activate the grimoire again and it will have 10 ticks (1 interval worth of charge). As long as the player has more than one interval of time remaining in the grimoire, Solak's arena will prevent the grimoire from running out and deactivating.

If the player enters Solak's arena with a grimoire that has already run out of charges, the player will neither be able to activate the grimoire nor benefit from the restorative effect of Solak's arena.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

A player activating the grimoire pre-update
  • Prior to an update on 30 July 2018, Erethdor's grimoire was equipped in the off-hand slot and also had a different effect: it restored 37.5% of the player's total prayer points over 30 seconds with a 5-minute cooldown. The prayer restoring ability was moved to the ancient elven ritual shard.
  • On release, the grimoire's tooltip stated 15% prayer restoration instead of 37%.
  • Erethdor's grimoire previously stacked in the bank.
