"Dyeing" redirects here. For dying in-game, see Death (mechanic).

Dyes most commonly refer to the rewards from Treasure Trails which can be used to dye level 90 and level 92 armour and weapons. Dye can also refer to the low cost colour dyes which cannot be used to recolour equipment.

Types of dye[edit | edit source]

A player mixing two dyes.

Treasure Trails[edit | edit source]

These dyes may be acquired from hard, elite, and master Treasure Trails and can be used to dye level 90 and level 92 armour and weapons, turning the former into repairable equipment. This process is irreversible, the dye is used up in the process, and the dyed versions of equipment become permanently untradeable unless killed. Even then, dyed weapons lost on death are simply converted into a broken version of the original, with the dye being lost in the process.

Standard dyes[edit | edit source]

Standard dyes can be used to dye capes, small and large rune pouches, goblin mail and essence of finality amulets. All of these standard dyes are sold at Lletya Seamstress, run by Oronwen in Lletya, for 10 coins each. Aggie in Draynor Village and Rana the dyer in Pollnivneach will make these dyes for the player if they are brought certain ingredients.

Two primary colours (red, blue or yellow) can be mixed with each other to produce a secondary colour (orange, green or purple).

Other dyes[edit | edit source]

Pink dye[edit | edit source]

Pink dye is members-only and can be bought from Betty in the Magic Shop in Port Sarim for 20 coins, after you have completed The Hand in the Sand quest. The player may also make it themselves during the quest by using redberries and white berries with a special vial of water.

It can be used the same way as the standard dyes above, in addition to turning Vorago into "Voraga" if he is fought on world 62. This cosmetic change lasts for one phase.

Black mushroom ink[edit | edit source]

Black mushroom ink is members only and player made during the Shadow of the Storm, Land of the Goblins, and The Golem quests.

It can be used in the same way as standard and pink dyes. In addition, the ink is also required to restore golem instructions.

Whitefish[edit | edit source]

A whitefish is required to get the "bleach" to obtain the "blank colour" white. However, the "bleach" itself is not received as an item and it only colours goblin mail, to obtain white goblin mail, for use during the Land of the Goblins quest.

Quests[edit | edit source]

Dye is used in a number of quests:
