Dragon bolts (also known as dragonstone bolts) are rune bolts tipped with dragonstone, they are not made of dragon metal. Dragonstone bolts can be created through the Fletching skill by attaching dragon bolt tips to rune bolts. Attaching dragon bolt tips requires a Fletching level of 71, and for each dragonstone bolt tip attached to a rune bolt, a player is granted 8.2 Fletching experience. Once the dragon bolt tips have been attached, the rune bolts becomes dragonstone bolts.

Dragonstone bolts can be enchanted through the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Dragonstone) by a player with level 68 Magic with 15 earth runes, 1 cosmic rune, and 1 soul rune. The spell enchants 10 dragonstone bolts at a time, and once they are enchanted they become enchanted dragonstone bolts. Enchanted dragonstone bolts have a 5% chance to activate the Dragon's breath enchantment. Upon activation the target is hit a 2nd time, dealing 25% of the original hit as dragonfire. Dragons and those under dragonfire protection such as a anti- dragon shield/dragonfire shield or antifire potion are immune.
