Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The animation might be a reference to the music video of the Tenacious D song Tribute, where a human guitarist (Kyle Gass) and singer (Jack Black) defeat the devil (Dave Grohl) in a song contest (the "Rock Off Challenge") for their souls. This is also depicted in the film.
- It might be a reference to Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown), also by Tenacious D, in which the phrase Rock Off is actually mentioned by both Jack Black and the Devil.
- It may also be a reference to the song of the Charlie Daniels Band song The Devil Went Down To Georgia, where a boy named Johnny battles the devil on the fiddle in a bet who is the best. The devil bets his golden fiddle and Johnny his soul.
- The skeleton-themed guitar may be a reference to the guitar held by Lou, appearing in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Lou is the final boss in the game, where the player battles Lou on the metal remake of the song The Devil Went Down To Georgia.
