Dawn Ascent was a covert military operation orchestrated by the White Knights in the Fifth Age. The event is only mentioned by name in the witch Kardia's History of Iban found in the Underground Pass, although activities like it have been suggested in the past.
The exact date of the Dawn Ascent remains unknown, but based on the context of the text it occurred after Lord Daquarius Rennard rose to power in Year 164 of the Fifth Age. Although the text is very vague about the details of the event, it suggests that the White Knights somehow managed to eliminate various high-standing Kinshra leaders, the most prominent of which was Daquarius's follower Iban. Iban was later revived through a series of Zamorakian rituals in the Underground Pass by Kardia, eventually allowing him to seize one of the three passages from Tirannwn to Kandarin.
This operation is also mentioned by Sir Owen if you talk to him about his history during The Death of Chivalry, where it is revealed that it was he who was responsible for the death of Iban, through subterfuge and guerrilla tactics. For his actions, rather than being lauded, Sir Owen was criticised by the White Knights for 'cowardice' and dishonour. However, Sir Owen's role during the operation, although lambasted by his peers, impressed Sir Tiffy Cashien, who made him an offer to join the Temple Knights.
