Strategy[edit | edit source]

During the fight the player will be attacked by three Dagannoth Kings: the Dagannoth Prime, Dagannoth Supreme, and Dagannoth Rex. Each of them is weak to one of the three combat styles and immune to the other two. Fight each king in turn, switching to the combat style that it is weak to. If you are struggling then focus on using switches only for the chest and legs slots. Hybrid armour could also be used instead of armour switching but this is not advised as it does not provide the same damage bonuses as power armour.

Dagannoth Kings.png
  • Red = Dagannoth Rex, use magic.
  • Green = Dagannoth Supreme, use melee.
  • Blue = Dagannoth Prime, use ranged.

The kings respawn independently of each other but whichever of them are currently alive will attack you simultaneously. As you can only focus on killing one of them at a time using the combat style that it is weak to you are likely to be attacked by two kings at the same time, while the one you have most recently killed is respawning.

Dagannoth Rex and Supreme can hit multiple players at once with their attacks, while Dagannoth Prime's attack is single-targeting but deals the most damage out of the three. There are also numerous spinolyps near the water in the chamber. These can attack the player with weak magic and poisoned ranged attacks. In an instance, spinolyps appear as normal but tend to completely despawn after 5-10 minutes have passed in the instance without leaving.

Lower level players may wish to minimise the amount of time they're being attacked by multiple Kings. One method for this would be to run to the southeast arena corner at the start, using magic to lure Dagannoth Rex away from the centre and killing him in isolation. From there, switch to ranged equipment and rotate counterclockwise, and attempt to engage Dagannoth Prime without getting Dagannoth Supreme's attention - Prime tends to keep north and Supreme southwest, but Prime's wandering radius may change where you need to stand. Slay Prime, then use melee equipment to deal with Supreme. From here, kill the Kings in the order they respawn. If there's a long gap between spawns, use abilities like Anticipation and Freedom to adrenaline stall.

At higher levels you should experience no difficulty in quickly killing the kings and it is recommended to use an instance with respawn rate set to fastest in order to kill the bosses continuously. Higher level players should bring magic notepaper to send drops to the bank to prolong trips. Use of fremennik sea boots 4 is also highly recommended to cause the kings' bone drops to be noted.
