Coenus chathead.png

Coenus is an officer of the Menaphite Guard and chief gatekeeper of Menaphos. He guards the gate between Menaphos and Sophanem from the Menaphite side, and will not let anyone pass as Sophanem is quarantined due to a plague.

He was responsible for taking down a recent uprising in Menaphos, and his brutal methods have drawn some criticism, making him a contemptible and hated man in Sophanem.

Recently, the people of Sophanem, led by the city's High Priest, attempted to treaty with the people of Menaphos and re-establish trade-links between the two cities once more, as it has been proven by an adventurer that the plagues were not contagious. The people of Sophanem also wanted to get to Menaphos to help many of their own people back to their city. However, upon approaching the blockade separating the two cities, the Priest's people were denied access by Coenus and his guards, all wearing face masks, and when they refused to stand down, Coenus' men opened fire and the men of Sophanem fled in terror, making contact impossible.

When the player proves the plague is fake after completing Contact!, Coenus will reluctantly allow the player to pass through the gate, warning them that they cannot return as he doesn't want the risk of the plague being carried around Menaphos. Upon completing 'Phite Club, Coenus becomes much more friendly with the player and allows them to freely travel to and from both cities.
