Cobalt skillchompas are a special type of weapon obtained by catching cobalt skillchompas at the Tree Gnome Stronghold Hunter area north of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. When wielded or in the player's inventory, they provide a number of benefits in the Archaeology, Divination, Fishing, Mining, and Woodcutting skills. They require level 31 in the relevant skill to be used.
When used for Archaeology, Divination, Fishing, or Woodcutting, cobalt skillchompas are consumed regardless of whether the action performed was successful. Skillchompas grant an additional 10% experience on all experience-gaining actions, and additionally grant experience equivalent to 5% of having successfully completed an action each time an action is attempted unsuccessfully. When used for Mining, cobalt skillchompas are only consumed upon a critical swing, adding 30 bonus critical damage.
They also provide specific benefits in each of the skills they aid. When used in Archaeology, Mining and Woodcutting, they operate as a mithril mattock, mithril pickaxe, or mithril hatchet, respectively. When used to train Divination, they give an extra 3% chance of obtaining an enriched memory when harvesting wisps. When used to train Fishing, they grant a 1% increased chance to catch a fish or item.
