Calculator:Cooking/Cooking various items
- The calculations below use real-time market prices. For more information, see Grand Exchange Market Watch.
Assumptions[edit source]
- All raw materials are bought in the Grand Exchange
- The finished products are sold at the Grand Exchange.
This calculator provides a cost-analysis of brewing ales.
Brewing calculator[edit source]
The table below lists the profit (or loss) made from buying brewing ingredients and selling the finished brew.
Basic Ingredients[edit source]
All ales require the following ingredients at a minimum:
Name | Cost |
---|---|
![]() |
590 |
![]() |
3,240 |
![]() |

Total (Beer glass) | 16,551 |
Total (Calquat keg) | 4,093 |
Process[edit source]
The process of brewing is as follows:
- Head to a brewing vat (in the basement of the bar in Port Phasmatys or the upper floor of the east Keldagrim bar)
- Add 2 buckets of water to the vat
- Add 2 barley malt to the vat
- Optionally add the stuff
- Add the main ingredient of the ale
- Add one pot of ale yeast
- Return in a few days
- Collect the completed ale using 8 beer glasses or 2 calquat kegs
However, for cider, the process is as follows:
- Head to a vat
- Use the apple barrel near the vat to crush 16 cooking apples into 4 buckets of apple mush (if not buying apple mush from the grand exchange)
- Use the four buckets of apple mush on the vat
- Water and barley malt are not required
- Add one pot of ale yeast
Analysis[edit source]
- The table is split into three sections:
- Normal ale
- Mature ale
- Average profit when using the stuff. The stuff allows mature brews to be made with probability 50%.
- The stuff cannot be added to cider.
- Raw bacon is untradeable.

This calculator provides a cost-analysis of cooking fish.
Fish cooking calculator[edit source]
The table below lists the loss (or profit) made from buying raw fish, and selling the cooked fish. All prices are based from the Grand Exchange Market Watch/Fishing.
Remember: Some fish will burn frequently without use of the Cooking cape, thus affecting the profit/loss per XP. For example manta rays at level 99 with gauntlets but without the cooking cape, will burn approximately 23% of the time, leading to an expectation of −535.93 per fish and a true cost per xp of −2.48. Both the Modified sous chef's toque and portable range will produce a bonus 5% cooked fish, increasing profits. Using a Brooch of the gods will double the portable range's bonus to 10%.
