Brine rats are creatures found within the Brine Rat Cavern, which requires partial completion of Olaf's Quest and a spade to access. They require level 47 Slayer to damage.

They have relatively low defence but can hit up to 140 damage, rather high for their combat level of 49.

Multiple safespots exist, one of them involving the use of the light coloured skeleton in the room. Rangers and Mages may attack across these bones, trapping the monsters on the other side of the pile.

Bringing logs allows players to cook the various raw foods they drop. Alternately, there is a fire near Olaf Hradson, located outside the cavern's exit which can be used instead.

Tips

Access tips:

1. Use the Fremennik Province lodestone
2. Use the Fairy rings DKS and dig the area just south of the tree
3. Use a Ring of slaying Teleport to the Rellekka Slayer Dungeon and then run north
4. Use the Lyre teleport run east

Food and healing tips:

• Raw unnoted fish received as drops from the rats can be taken and cook them using the fire next to Olaf. This will reduce bank trips.
• Good food such as swordfish, monkfish, and lobsters or even using Bones To Peaches tabs would be helpful in staying for long periods of time.
• It is advisable to bring a Bunyip pouch. Not needed for high-levelled players.
• Since the tool belt one will not work, either bring a spade in the inventory or grab the one that spawns near Olaf.
