Bomb (Herblore)

A bomb is a type of potion that is used to create an area-of-effect on the ground that applies a specific effect. Bombs were introduced on 25 November 2019 with the Farming & Herblore 120 update.

Bombs are made in a bomb vial, and are consumed once thrown. Bombs are stackable and can be used with any combat style. Bombs can fail to apply their effect ('splash'), but as the area lingers they will attempt to apply it to the monsters multiple times. Both the modified botanist's mask and portable well potion duplication effects work when making bombs.

In order to use the bomb, it must be placed on the action bar - attempting to throw one from the inventory will prompt a message stating that they can only be thrown on the action bar. As the player does not initiate combat when throwing a bomb, this will allow for Greater Barge's secondary effect to take place if applicable. Any monsters within the area-of-effect of the thrown bomb will initiate combat with said player as long as the monster isn't already in combat with another player, regardless if the bomb fails to apply its effect or succeeds.

    • It's no longer possible to use a 'bomb' on a banker NPC - instead the player is now asked how many bombs they would like to deposit.
  • patch 6 January 2020 (Update):
    • Players can no longer boost their Herblore levels to access the leveling benefits of powerbursts, bombs, or primal pulp. You can, however, still boost your levels to create the original potion.
