Blood dye is a type of dye rewarded from Elite and Master Clue scrolls and from the Giant Oyster. It can be used to dye tier 90 and above weapons and armours. Most tier 90 and 92 power armour and weapons can be dyed with it, provided that the item in question is not already dyed.

It can't be used to dye defenders, reprisers, rebounders, masterwork equipment (including its trimmed version) or the spear of annihilation (including its masterwork version).

Once the dye is applied to an item, that item becomes untradeable, and the dye cannot be removed by any means. It is currently not possible to dye tier 90 tank armour. A warning message is given if the player attempts to use dye on eligible equipment.

When added to armour, it renders the armour repairable by using the raw materials to replenish charges. The repair mechanics of dyed weapons remain unchanged.

In a Developer Q&A on 2 March 2016, it was revealed that the drop chance is similar to third-age dye, and that 53 have been received to date.[1] (The drop chance of third-age dye is approximately 1/50,960 per reward spot from elite clues, the per-clue chance of receiving at least one third-age dye from an elite clue is approximately 1/10,192).

The idea for this item was originally suggested on RuneLabs.
