Binding Shot is a basic Ranged ability. Binding Shot deals 20-100% ability damage to your target as well as binds them and interrupts their attacks.
The threshold version of this ability is Tight Bindings. With the Flanking perk, Binding Shot loses its bind property against targets that face away from the player in exchanged for increased damage.
Binding Shot is useful against monsters that only attack with melee if it manages to pierce their ranged-resistant defences, holding the target in place for 9.6 seconds. Against players, however, it is less useful, as players have the option of both Freedom and Barge, both of which will free them from the bind.
It is generally recommended to use this ability before Fragmentation Shot when fighting melee combatants so that they will either be forced to expend Freedom on Binding shot, in which case they cannot avoid the bleed of Fragmentation Shot, or they do not use Freedom, in which case the ranger is safe from attacks for 9.6 seconds. The player is then open to follow up with Fragmentation Shot if the enemy uses Freedom to escape the snare.
Binding Shot shares its countdown timer with Backhand, Kick, Impact, Shock and Demoralise.
