This article is about the sand man in Yanille. For other instances of Bert, see Bert (disambiguation).

Bert is a key figure in the Hand in the Sand quest and, after completing the quest, will gather 84 buckets of sand and deliver them to your bank account daily if you speak with him. This increases to 120 following completion of the Ardougne Elite Tasks. Players have to speak to him every day in order to get the sand. It is not automatically delivered. A sandpit can be found outside his cabin, north of the player-owned house portal.

He can be contacted using the NPC Contact spell in the Lunar spellbook.

Update history[edit | edit source]

The update history project is a work-in-progress – not all updates to this topic may be covered below. See here for how to help out!

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • A hidden update, which allows you to right click and select Sand, was added to skip dialogue with Bert.
  • Bert will always greet you with "Mornin' [player name]" regardless of the actual time of day.
  • Bert's image on the Contact spell interface is that of his old chathead, where he looks younger. However, when talking to him using Contact the new chathead is displayed.
  • Bert speaks with a Yorkshire accent.
  • Despite the fact Bert mentions a wife during the quest The Hand in the Sand, he appears to be solitary in his cabin - which incidentally lacks a bed.
  • On 10 February 2009, the minimum interval between sand collections was reduced to 23 hours and 40 minutes to enable people to collect sand at the same time every day. Prior to this, the time of collection would slowly creep forwards every day because of the 24 hour minimum limit. On 29 September 2014, this changed to once daily after the daily reset at 00:00 (UTC).
