A barrel is used:
- During the Regicide quest as a component in making a bomb needed to destroy Tyras camp.
- During the Mourning's End Part I quest to make a poison.
The barrels are mainly used in the quests to be filled up with coal tar making a Barrel of coal-tar.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- If you examine a barrel in front of the Varrock castle, it reads "RuneScape, land of a thousand barrels." This is a reference to countries that have a similar phrase related to them. Another one reads "Somewhere there is a very busy cooper." The barrel found in the Falador house north of the Artisans' Workshop reads, "I'd really hate to drink anything that had been in here."
