The auto-screener v1.080 is a level 67 Invention item that can be discovered and created at an inventor's workbench under the skilling support tab and allows players, when excavating, to automatically screen gathered soil into archaeology materials. To discover the device, players must first achieve associate qualifications before they are able to purchase the blueprints from the Archaeology Guild Shop, which cost 50,000 chronotes and requires a minimum of 70 Archaeology.

Each screened soil drains 3.33 energy from the player's charge pack. This amounts to 900 soil per divine charge at a cost of 58.6 per use, and gives the player materials just as it would at the Archaeology Guild screening station. But unlike the screening station, which can yield any material available at the soil's respective dig site according to the player's level, the auto-screener will only yield materials available at the specific excavation hotspot. This also applies to material caches; any soil obtained from caches will be screened for only the material available at the cache. The material received from the auto-screener will be placed into the player's inventory.

No experience is gained from screening with the auto-screener, though the material screened can be duplicated by a waterfiend familiar. Unlike manually screening soil, the auto-screener does not yield any damaged artefacts.

The auto-screener can be deactivated at any time to disable the effect, and reactivated to enable the effect. Toggling activation has no cost.

It is possible to boost the player's invention level in order to discover and create the auto-screener.

Signs of the porter (including those stored in grace of the elves) and the Imp Souled perk will work with this, and automatically bank any materials received.
