Recommended levels and equipment[edit | edit source]

Requirements
Quest points.png
You need to complete the quest Priest In Peril or kill the ghoul at Paterdomus to gain access to this boss.
Level recommendations
Style All Large.png
It is recommended to have at least level 90+ in your chosen combat style (Attack & Strength, Ranged or Magic).
Defence.png
It is recommended to have at least level 90+ Defence.
Anguish.png
At least 95 Prayer and ancient curses are highly recommended to improve your damage.
Overload detail.png
Use the best combat potions that you have to increase your hit chance and damage. Overloads are recommended at level 96 Herblore.
Precise.png
Augmented gear with basic perks is sufficient at 86 Invention.
Gameplay
Deflect Magic.png
This boss has mandatory prayer-switching and a secondary action bar with hotkey-bound protection prayers is strongly recommended.
Auto-retaliate off.png
You need to keep auto-retaliate off, because you need to stop attacking during the reflect mechanics like Cobweb and Mirrorbacks.
Equipment recommendations
Hybrid.png
Use tier 90 weaponry or better
(see recommendations).
Super antipoison detail.png
Protection such as super antipoisons or elder overload salves is recommended to protect against this boss's poison attacks.
Araxyte pheromone detail.png
You should take an araxyte pheromone or create a paid instance so that Araxxor spawns weakest to your chosen combat style.
Ranged.png
Ranged is recommended for beginners as you take the least damage, and you can attack from a distance to have more time to react to special attacks.
Optional boosts
Summoning.png
This boss is immune to familiar damage. Use a familiar with a damage-boosting passive to increase your damage: Ripper demon, Kal'gerion demon, or Blood reaver.
Slayer helmet immune.png
This boss does not count as any slayer task, so the slayer helmet damage boost has no effect.
Anti-poison Active (self status).png
This boss is immune to poison. Cinderbane gloves and weapon poisons do not deal additional damage.
Seren godbow detail.png
The Seren godbow's special attack is very strong against this target with all combat styles as it is a 5x5+ target. (5x5 blocked on Phase 4)
NopeNopeNope perk (target status).png
3% increased damage against Araxxi and Araxxor if you have two pens with an elder spider, and farm totems on each pen.

Items to be wary of[edit | edit source]

  • Deathtouch bracelet.png: RS3 Inventory image of Deathtouch braceletDeathtouch bracelet - While this item provides high offensive stats, its passive effect can cause unnecessary amounts of damage. Every attack (including typeless damage) has a chance to reflect damage back to the spiders. This includes the damage reflected off of web shields. Small mistakes can escalate quickly as the damage reflected back by the web can be much higher than the damage dealt. Accidentally attacking during this time could cascade into large amounts of damage.
  • Dark magic aura.png: RS3 Inventory image of Dark magic auraDark magic aura - While this aura is good for its amount of damage it can inflict over time, this effect can go off when Araxxor uses his web shield causing unnecessary damage to the player.

Perks to be wary of[edit | edit source]

  • Crackling.pngCrackling - Great armour perk for the additional damage it provides during the fight, but the perk can trigger at an inopportune moment, which can cause the player to take heavy reflect damage on higher enrages if a cobweb shield or mirrorback spider is active. To avoid this side effect, players can target a minion spider the moment it spawns so that Crackling procs will target the minion instead of Araxxor.
  • Aftershock.pngAftershock - Weapon perk which activates after dealing 50,000 damage. An untimely Aftershock activation can cause damage to be reflected to the player during Araxxor's web shield or when a mirrorback spider is alive. To avoid this side effect, players can swap to a shield during the web shield special attack.

Action bar[edit | edit source]

Regardless of the style you use, you'll need one manual bar (without thresholds) and one fully automatic Revolution bar (with thresholds).

  • To allow all the abilities to activate automatically, go to Settings > Gameplay > Combat > Combat Mode and set Revolution size to 10 or higher.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Araxxor and Araxxi are large spiders that can be found in the Araxyte Hive. They can be fought solo or in a duo; though you should be aware that duo mode offers worse drop rates for rare drops. Only one player (or duo) can fight the public, non-instanced version of Araxxor at a time per world. If someone is already facing the non-instanced version you will not be able to enter and will have to world hop to find a free arena. Alternatively you can use paid instances.

Top view of the arena with the sections of each phase marked.

The fight consists of four phases: in the first three phases the player fights Araxxor and in the final stage the player fights Araxxi. At the end of phase one the player has the option of taking one of two open paths to continue the fight. There are three possible paths for the boss but only two will be open for the player to use at any given time, with the open paths rotating every 4 days. Each path corresponds to a different piece of the spider leg being obtainable.

The fight also utilises an enrage mechanic where successfully killing the boss increases an "enraged" counter by 20% per kill, up to a base cap of 300%. In a duo encounter enrage is calculated by combining each player's enrage and multiplying the total by 2, up to the base cap amount: for example if player A has 20% enrage but the other has 40% for 60% enrage, then the fight starts off at 120% enrage. Various factors during the fight can also increase enrage e.g. causing the boss to damage his minions using his cleave special attack. The higher the enraged encounter, the higher the boss's attack damage from particular special attacks and Arraxor's overall attack accuracy. Enrage is reset during the daily reset and may also be reset using an araxyte pheromone if you are unable to kill the boss at higher enrages. For more information see Araxxor's page.

You should bring an araxyte pheromone, or create an instance if not carrying the pheromone, as this will cause Araxxor to spawn in the combat form he is weakest against, based on the style of the player's main-hand weapon. The combat form of Araxxor corresponds to an increased droprate for one of the three weapon component pieces:

Attacks[edit | edit source]

Auto-attacks[edit | edit source]

In all forms Araxxor has a mechanic used when a player actives Soul Split. Araxxor himself will use heal using Soul Split if a player has Soul Split active when his attacks damage the player. The Soul Split effect for Araxxor is indicated with the animation going underneath Araxxor's body. His melee attacks anticipate this much faster and he will heal himself before his attack damages the player. Players should flick Soul Split accordingly to prevent Araxxor from healing himself, which is easiest when using ranged or magic.

The auto-attacks used by Araxxor during phases 1-3 are based on his combat style:

Araxxor.png

Araxxor stats:

  • Magic affinity: 55 (most vulnerable to Magic)
  • Melee affinity: 50
  • Ranged affinity: 40

Susceptible to: Inquisitor staff.png: RS3 Inventory image of Inquisitor staffInquisitor staff

Araxxor smashes his front legs at the player, dealing melee damage with an attack range of 4 tiles. This attack has a chance of applying a hard, typeless bleed to the player. The damage dealt by the bleed scales with enrage and it deals around 3-5 hits each time that it is applied. In rare situations another bleed may be applied while the player is already under the effect of a bleed, which increases the damage to more dangerous levels. The bleed may be cleared with Freedom but is generally not necessary unless a special attack is imminent.

Appearance of the magic attack

Araxxor spits a large stream of green acid towards the player, dealing magic damage. This attack drains run energy and drains overloaded status if the player has used an overload potion, or drains combat stats if they have not. This attack is negligible at lower enrages.

  • Ranged affinity: 45
  • Magic affinity: 40

Susceptible to: Terrasaur maul.png: RS3 Inventory image of Terrasaur maulTerrasaur maul

Appearance of the ranged attack

Araxxor launches a ball of spider silk at the player, dealing ranged damage. In this form Araxxor will apply poison to the player so it is advised to use protection against poison. The attack deals negligible damage at low enrage, but is heavily damaging at higher enrages. If using antipoison potions their timer will be reduced whenever poison would have been applied. If the poison purge aura is used it will heal the damage but will also take off 1 minute off of the aura's remaining duration. The You have been poisoned! message does not appear when becoming poisoned by the ranged attack.

If players are within her melee distance she will attack randomly with magic and melee attacks, regardless of what prayer/curse her target is using. If players are outside her melee range then she will attack with ranged and magic attacks, changing her attack style if the player is praying against the one that she is currently using.

The standard ranged and magic attacks used by Araxxi have the same animations as those used by Araxxor. However Araxxi's attacks deal much more damage and can be deadly if prayer switching is not done correctly. Players must switch their overhead prayers to match protect against her attacks.

In duo encounters, players should stand together unless the tanking player is confident of their skills, as they will take double damage from his attacks otherwise.

Special attacks[edit | edit source]

Araxxor performs a special attack every five auto-attacks. The special attack used is random. A common strategy is to alternately use Freedom.png Freedom or Anticipation.png Anticipation after every fourth auto-attack, in order to avoid or reduce the effect of some special attacks. The damage dealt by the special attacks is affected by the enrage mechanic.

Only one of the acidic spider, minions, or spotlight special attacks is used during the fight. The attack that is active depends on which path the player takes to procede into phase two of the fight.

Araxxor Attack Cocoon.gif

Message: You can't attack while transmogrified into this form!; You successfully struggle free from the cocoon!

Five small spiders rush at the player and trap them in a cocoon. This attack will disable Barricade.png: RS3 Inventory image of BarricadeBarricade, Devotion.png: RS3 Inventory image of DevotionDevotion, Debilitate.png: RS3 Inventory image of DebilitateDebilitate, and Resonance.png: RS3 Inventory image of ResonanceResonance; as well as applying a soft cooldown if they weren't in use or a hard cooldown if they were in use. The attack does a minimum of 200 hard typeless damage per tick that the player remains in the cocoon; an additional 10 damage is dealt for every 5% enrage gained throughout the fight. During the attack the spider will reinforce the cocoon; if the player does not free themself quickly then the cocoon will start dealing increased damage and the spider will resume its attacks on the player.

In duo mode both players are trapped by cocoons. If either player dies then the other's cocoon becomes inescapable. Araxxor will rotate between targets after using his cocoon attack unless Provoke is used.

Action required: Spam click on Araxxor or on the ground to free yourself from the cocoon.

Regular effect: It takes five clicks to break free of the cocoon.
Freedom (self status).png/Anticipation (self status).png active: It takes two clicks to break free (four in duo).

Araxxor Attack Cleave.gif

The spider bends its front four legs and swipes the area in front of itself, dealing a minimum of 4,000 hard typeless damage to players and up to 2,000 damage to familiars. The cleave has a range of two tiles against players: if the player is not within melee range of the spider then they are dragged closer to it. Against familiars the range is increased to four squares; damage dealt to them is based on how far they were when they were hit by the cleave. The further they are, the less damage they will take. Cleave also damages any minions that have spawned; the range of cleave is four squares against spider minions.

In duo mode cleave only targets the player that Araxxor is currently attacking. Damage dealt by the attack is doubled and dealt to both players if they are within the attack's range. Araxxor will rotate between targets after using his cleave attack unless Provoke is used.

Action required:

  1. Use Freedom.png: RS3 Inventory image of FreedomFreedom or Anticipation.png: RS3 Inventory image of AnticipationAnticipation in advance of the attack.
  2. Rapidly click away from the spider when the attack is used.
  3. If timed correctly no damage will be dealt to the player as the defensive ability will negate the spider's ability to drag the player into its attack range.
  4. It is recommended to hide familiar options through the game settings menu to prevent misclicking on it when evading the attack.
Regular effect: Players are dragged towards Araxxor and are dealt massive damage if they don't run away in time.
Freedom (self status).png/Anticipation (self status).png active: Players are not dragged. If players are outside the cleave range, they take no damage.

Araxxor Attack Cobweb.gif

The spider goes into a defensive position as a large cobweb falls over it. While the web is active the spider is healed 1,000 life points five times and all damage dealt by the player is halved and partly reflected back to the player. The reflect damage dealt is random, but generally scales with enrage.

In duo mode 2,000 life points are healed five times.

Action required:

  1. At low enrages immediately stop attacking the spider by spam clicking the ground (you will need to have turned off auto-retaliate).
  2. At high enrages you should swap to a shield to stop abilities from executing.
  3. Utilising a shield, you can use Resonance.png: RS3 Inventory image of ResonanceResonance followed by a single strong attack.

Araxxor Attack Eggs.gif

This attack is only used by Araxxor. Spiders drop three eggs on the ground near Araxxor while he fires a slow, homing explosive projectile at the player. When the explosive is launched, it disables Barricade.png: RS3 Inventory image of BarricadeBarricade, Devotion.png: RS3 Inventory image of DevotionDevotion, Debilitate.png: RS3 Inventory image of DebilitateDebilitate, and Resonance.png: RS3 Inventory image of ResonanceResonance, as well as resetting their cooldown. The explosive can hit up to five targets around the player in a 5x5 AoE, affecting any nearby eggs and spider minions. If the fireball hits more than four or more eggs and/or minions then the player does not take any damage. If there less than four valid targets within range of the player then they take up to 3,000 damage: the amount is reduced by 900 for each valid target hit. 2,100, 1,200 and 300 damage is dealt when having hit 1, 2 and 3 targets respectively. Eggs which are not destroyed will either disappear or spawn combat spiders.

In duo mode the amount of damage dealt by this attack is doubled, up to a maximum of 6,000 per player.

Action required: run to the eggs so that damage dealt when the projectile hits is minimised.

Araxxor Attack Bomb.gif

Araxxor will spawn an acidic spider that will move towards you: it can move at walk or run speed, and the speed it has is random. If it hits it will deal 32,000 hard typeless damage to the player and one-shot you. The spider has a bar above it: once the bar has filled yellow the spider will detonate, dealing 32,000 hard typeless damage to the player if they are in range.

Action required: Run or Surge.png: RS3 Inventory image of SurgeSurge away from the spider, so that it does not hit you and so it explodes while you are outside of its attack range.

Targeting a mirrorback spider using the right-click option

The spider can spawn spider minions: they are spawned in four waves throughout the fight. A total of 20 minions will be spawned in solo mode and 40 are spawned in duo mode. There is a specific spawn order that the minions follow. There are five different types of minions:

Minion Type Behaviour
Bladed spider.png Bladed spider Regular combat spider Attacks with melee.
Imbued spider.png Imbued spider Regular combat spider Attacks with magic.
Spitting spider.png Spitting spider Regular combat spider Attacks with ranged.
Mirrorback spider.png Mirrorback spider Special spider (dangerous) Makes the Araxxor/Araxxi immune to all damage and reflects 50% of the damage that it takes back to Araxxor/Araxxi, including hits that'd deal more damage than the health it has.
Pulsing spider.png Pulsing spider Special spider Heals Araxxor/Araxxi 5,000 life points every 5 seconds.

Action required:

  1. The moment Araxxor performs the minion spitting out animation, immediately use the Cease.png: RS3 Inventory image of CeaseCease ability to stop attacking.
  2. This is essential so that if a mirrorback spider spawns, the reflected damage will not kill you immediately.
  3. Prioritise dealing with any mirrorback spiders as soon as they appear to remove invulnerability from the boss and deal reflect damage.
  4. Deal with any pulsing spiders next to prevent them from healing the boss.
  5. The remaining regular spiders can be killed or outright ignored at low enrages.

All of the minions possess 3,000 health, making them fairly easy to kill. You can attempt to stack them to kill them quickly using AoE abilities. Minions that go underneath the boss can be attacked by using the right-click option.

Message: Araxxor plunges the arena into darkness!

The entire arena will go dark, except one spot which remains lit up and moves down the path. When you are standing in the darkness you will take hard typeless damage. The amount of damage dealt starts at 50 per hit with 0% enrage. The damage increases every few ticks, capping at 1,000 damage in encounters at 200% enrage or higher.

The location of the spotlight changes more frequently in duo mode.

Action required: Run or Surge.png: RS3 Inventory image of SurgeSurge to the spotlighted area to avoid taking damage.

Tips:

  • Having Double Surge unlocked is very helpful for this phase
  • Mobile.png: RS3 Inventory image of MobileMobile can be used to decrease the cooldown of Surge/Double Surge.

Enrage mechanic[edit | edit source]

Releasing an Araxyte pheromone to reset the enrage

Araxxor's initial rage will increase as Araxxi is killed, increasing his damage and attack speed. This rage meter resets every day at 00:00 UTC, and has a maximum cap of 300% base rage.

The rage meter does not reset unless the player logs after reset time or uses an araxyte pheromone.

Araxxor and Araxxi have an enrage mechanic expressed as a percentage, which controls how difficult the battle is.

  • The higher their enrage, the more damage most of their attacks will deal.
  • With each kill the enrage goes up by 20% (after Araxxi's corpse is looted).
    • This caps at a base of 300% - equal to 16 kills solo or 9 kills duo, assuming the pair start at 0% enrage.
    • In a duo, enrage is combined and multiplied by 2 from both players if the total does not add up to 300% - if player A has 20% enrage but the other has 40% for 60% enrage, then the fight starts off at 120% enrage.
  • Enrage resets daily on reset time (the player must also lobby or log out for this to take effect)
  • An Araxyte pheromone.png: RS3 Inventory image of Araxyte pheromoneAraxyte pheromone can be used to reset the enrage back to 0%, consuming the pheromone worth 1,152,338.

Various factors can increase enrage during the battle:

  • Successfully dodging Araxxor's charge when on the bottom path.
  • Luring Araxxor's explosive to eggs and destroying them (1% rage plus 1% rage for each egg destroyed).
  • Letting Araxxor cleave his minions (5% rage plus 5% rage for each minion cleaved).
  • Increasing its acid level by luring Araxxor into the acid on Phase 2 (1% for every 2.5% acid absorbed; this rage is removed on phase 3).
  • Increasing its acid level by luring highly acidic spiders to Araxxor (1% for every 2.5% acid absorbed; this rage is removed on phase 4; each spider gives adds up to 25% acidity, so 10% enrage per spider).
  • Enraging Araxxi once her health reaches 50,000 life points (1% every 2 attacks).
  • Enraging Araxxi further when her health reaches 25,000 life points (20% rage increase).
  • Araxxi absorbing leftover acid if the pool was not completely drained (1% rage for every 2.5%).
  • Every time Araxxi attacks once she is below 25,000 life points, she gains 5% rage for every attack.

Phases[edit | edit source]

Phase 1[edit | edit source]

View from the arena entrance, showing the three paths that can be selected by burning the corresponding webs.

In the displayed rotation, the minions path is closed, acid path has been selected and its covering web is burning, and the darkness path is open

Phase one takes place in a chamber which has a choice of three possible paths to use when moving to phase two of the fight. Two of the paths will be open, though covered by webs, and the third will be closed due it being blocked by rocks. Decide which path you wish to use: each path activates a specific special attack; involves different mechanics during phase two of the fight; and give a chance at obtaining either the spider leg top.png: RS3 Inventory image of spider leg topspider leg top, spider leg middle.png: RS3 Inventory image of spider leg middlespider leg middle or spider leg bottom.png: RS3 Inventory image of spider leg bottomspider leg bottom.

Click the webs covering it to ignite them. It takes 1 minute for the webs to burn away so doing this at the start of the fight saves time while you deplete his health. (see image on the right)

Araxxor will spawn in either his melee, magic, or ranged form and use auto-attacks of the corresponding style. Pray against the combat style that he is using and flick to Soul Split in between the points where his attacks damage you to avoid his Soul Split healing mechanic.

The first special attack will be performed at a random time within the first few attacks of the fight. Use Anticipation.png: RS3 Inventory image of AnticipationAnticipation or Freedom.png: RS3 Inventory image of FreedomFreedom as soon as Araxxor uses his first auto-attack to preempt this.

Following the initial special attack Araxxor will perform five auto-attacks followed by either a cocoon, cleave, or web shield special attack. Use Anticipation or Freedom after every fourth auto-attack to reduce the effects of special attacks, and react to the special attack as outlined above. Araxxor will never use the same special attack back-to-back on the first phase.

Arraxor starts with phase with 100,000 life points: when his health is reduced to 0 spiders on the ceiling above will "refuse to let him die" and heal him back to 5,000 life points. Once the web covering your chosen path has burnt through you can move down it to proceed with phase two of the fight.

Phase 2[edit | edit source]

All auto-attacks and special attacks used in phase one are used in the same way in phase two. Araxxor will again not repeat special attacks back-to-back in this phase. He again begins the phase with 100,000 life points, and will be healed to 5,000 life points when you reduce his health to 0. In addition Araxxor can use the burn spawn (egg bomb) special attack. He also gains a special attack and mechanic specific to the path that the player has selected. The mechanic is only active during phase two, but the special attack remains active for at least phase two and three as outlined in the section above.

Special attack: more spiders! (minions)

Mechanic: none

  • Araxxor will use burn spawn (egg spawn) as his first special attack.
  • Phase 3 can be advanced to at any time by continuing down the path. It is recommended to kill at least 15 minions and reduce his health to 2,000 if you are less experienced.
  • In duo mode one player should prepare for a berserker rotation while the other player drinks a powerburst of acceleration while spamming Surge.png: RS3 Inventory image of SurgeSurge and Bladed Dive.png: RS3 Inventory image of Bladed DiveBladed Dive to get to the phase 3 area. Said player should immediately Surge and Bladed Dive back to the other player.

Special attack: acid spiders

Mechanic: Araxxor must be lured to the pool of acid so that he absorbs it, then lured to the ramp leading to the phase three area so that the acid causes the ramp to collapse for you to advance to the next area:

The ideal area to stand to lure Araxxor into the acid pool while attacking (marked in blue)
Standing at the top of the ramp while Araxxor leaks acid onto the ramp

Steps:

  1. Lure Araxxor to the acid pool by standing in the spot shown in the image.
  2. Araxxor will take some time to absorb the acid. Keep attacking him. If Araxxor launches an acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of acidic spideracidic spider, Surge.png: RS3 Inventory image of SurgeSurge towards him and resume attacking as this ensures that he remains within the pool.
  3. After Araxxor has absorbed at least 70% of the acid run to the top of the ramp to lure him there. It is recommended to build adrenaline up to 100% before climbing the ramp, and then use Barricade.png: RS3 Inventory image of BarricadeBarricade as needed to protect against cleaves and acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of acidic spideracidic spiders. if Barricade.png: RS3 Inventory image of BarricadeBarricade is not available then Surge.png: RS3 Inventory image of SurgeSurge down the ramp to escape from acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of acidic spideracidic spiders if necessary.
  4. A game message will indicate when Araxxor is leaking acid to corrode the ramp. Stay at the top of the ramp and continue attacking him.
  5. After Araxxor has leaked enough acid, the ramp will collapse.
  6. You have to click on the edge of the ramp to move to phase three. Jump down from the ramp immediately: otherwise noxious fumes will deal increasingly hard typeless damage to you.

Notes:

  • During this phase Araxxor will not use his cocoon attack.
  • This path is particularly dangerous because of the acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of acidic spideracidic spiders, which may spawn around Araxxor or the player, and for a short duration, have increased accuracy and damage.
  • This path has the most increased dangers and it is the slowest.

Top view of the arena with the darkness path areas highlighted

Special attack: darkness (spotlight)

Mechanics: Araxxor flees to the ceiling and becomes unattackable. While you are traversing the path Araxxor will charge down the path and swipe at you roughly every minute. You must dodge the charge so that Araxxor continues to crash into the wall at the end of the path so that it is broken to allow you to continue on to phase three.

Araxxor's attack positions with correct dodge direction highlighted in green
Successfully dodging a swipe from the right
Araxxor charging into the wall

Steps:

  1. The charge is preceded by the message: Araxxor prepares to come down from the ceiling and charge! appearing in the chat.
  2. 15 seconds after the warning your camera angle will force change to one showing your character at the end of the path.
  3. Araxxor will approach down the path: press the correct arrow key on your keyboard or click the arrow on screen to dodge his incoming swipe. His position indicates from which direction he is going to swipe, dodge in the same direction.
  4. If Araxxor's charge is successfully dodged the wall will be fully destroyed. A partial dodge will deal 50% damage to the wall. In duo mode damage dealt will vary depending on if one or both players partially dodge the attack). If the player doesn't dodge in time or dodges in the wrong direction then the wall takes no damage and Araxxor will damage the player. 5,000 damage is dealt if the charge is not dodged and 2,500 damage is dealt is the attack is partially dodged.
  5. When the wall is destroyed the game displays Araxxor smashes the wall down and flees to the next area!. Continue to phase three.

Notes:

  • During this phase, Araxxor alternates between his ranged and magic attacks regardless of form but attacks with a much slower attack rate. He also uses the egg bomb attack.
  • The side effects of the ranged and magic attacks can still activate.
  • At higher enrage levels, if the light changes to a very far location just as or quickly after the eggs are dropped, it is better to ignore the eggs and head for the light. The player will take far too much damage while trying to tank the darkness, whereas the explosion could easily be healed off of with food or Resonance against one of Araxxor's attacks.

Phase 3[edit | edit source]

Araxxor begins the phase with 100,000 health. The spiders on the ceiling will heal Araxxor for any health that he had left when the player advanced to phase two and to phase three. The amount of health Araxxor had is rounded to the nearest thousand; if Araxxor had less than 1,000 health in both phases then the spiders don't heal him at all. Otherwise he will be healed for up to 80% of the health that he had remaining. Up to 30,000 health will be healed at one time. A total of up to 80,000 health can be healed if the darkness (bottom) path was taken. If the other paths were taken up to 160,000 health will be healed.

During this phase Araxxor will use his auto-attacks, special attacks and the special attacks of both of the available phase two paths (i.e. both the path that the player opened and the one that they did not open, with the possible attacks being acid spiders, more spiders! (minions), or darkness (spotlight). It is highly advised to kill off all spider minions in phase 3, as failing to do so will cause them to spawn in phase 4, where they are more difficult to deal with. Araxxor's attack speed also increases significantly during this phase.

If the acid path is open then one highly acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of highly acidic spiderhighly acidic spider will be spawned for every 25 units of acid remaining in the phase two acid pool. The pool contains a total of 100 units of acid: meaning that a maximum of four highly acidic spiders will be spawned, if all acid is present due to the player not taking this path earlier in the fight. If the acid path was taken then at least one spider will always be spawned. The highly acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of highly acidic spiderhighly acidic spiders wander around the phase 3 area unless clicked on to lure them. Lure the spider and run across Araxxor to move the highly acidic spider.png: RS3 Inventory image of highly acidic spiderhighly acidic spider towards him. Araxxor will consume the spider, gain enrage proportional to the amount of acid that the spider was holding, and be healed for 5,000 health. On low enrage the spiders can simply be ignored, but it may be beneficial to lure them on higher ones so that Araxxi will not deal as much damage in the upcoming phase. He may also spawn regular acidic spiders, although this is relatively uncommon.

A quick way to end this phase is by using Shatter.png: RS3 Inventory image of ShatterShatter. If enough stacks have been added on Araxxor during the fight, players can rip off a large amount of his health since this phase emphasizes on damage output due to the increased attack rate. This should only be done when taking the top or middle path.

Phase 4[edit | edit source]

Araxxor is killed by his mate, Araxxi

Phase four begins with a cutscene showing the player(s) and Araxxor entering the final platform. Araxxi crashes down onto Araxxor from the ceiling, killing him. Araxxi does not move from the centre of the arena; if the player moves underneath her, which is only possible before she becomes attackable, she will stun and bind them for 6 seconds. The player can stall adrenaline using Freedom.png: RS3 Inventory image of FreedomFreedom, Anticipation.png: RS3 Inventory image of AnticipationAnticipation or any defensive ability after leaving combat, or use potions to regain it.

The fight will then continue against Araxxi. Any spider minions that are still alive in the phase 3 arena will automatically die a few seconds after Araxxi spawns. Any pulsing spiders that are still alive if Araxxor is phased will immediately teleport to Araxxi once the phase begins. Mirrorback spiders do not share this feature. Any Storm Shard stacks on Araxxor when he is defeated carry over to Araxxi, but the amount is halved.

The recommended distance to remain from Araxxi during phase 4 for optimal prayer switching

It is recommended to stand around 4-5 steps away from Araxxi. She will attack with ranged and magic auto-attacks. Switch between praying against range and magic to prevent being dealt high damage from the attacks; she will alternate her style according to the prayer used by the player. The magic attack moves faster than the ranged attack, which poses a difficulty in prayer switching as it's possible for both the ranged and magic hit to land on the same tick. This is mitigated by standing at the correct distance from Araxxi.

An advanced technique is soul split flicking, by toggling Deflect Missiles.png: RS3 Inventory image of Deflect MissilesDeflect Missiles/Deflect Magic.png: RS3 Inventory image of Deflect MagicDeflect Magic and Soul Split.png: RS3 Inventory image of Soul SplitSoul Split at a very high speed. As Araxxi reacts after she senses her attacks are being prayed against, by having Soul Split active, she will only use magic attacks. Pulling this off consistently can save a considerable amount of food and prayer switching clicks, but be prepared for the occasional ranged attack if a mistake is made.

Switch to a manual action bar that allows adrenaline building (an action bar without thresholds); build up adrenaline to full and execute a Death's Swiftness.png: RS3 Inventory image of Death's SwiftnessDeath's Swiftness, Sunshine.png: RS3 Inventory image of SunshineSunshine or Berserk.png: RS3 Inventory image of BerserkBerserk ability. Then switch to an automatic action bar (with thresholds).

Araxxi can use the cleave, cobweb and cocoon mechanics special attacks, along with path-specific special attacks/mechanics:

  • Acid path open: Araxxi will absorb any acid that is still leftover from the pool. Araxxi can absorb between 25 to 75 units of acid at a time, though she most commonly does so in batches of 50 units. She will will deal increased damage while affected by the acid.
    • Priority: Acid absorption is used with highest priority over other path specific special attacks/mechanics.
  • Minions path open: Araxxi can summon spider minions, unless all 20 (40 in duo) have been killed in previous phases. Araxxi's minions are spawned in a random pattern no set pattern. As soon as she initiates this mechanic stop attacking her and focus on killing any mirrorback and/or pulsing spiders. Then continue attacking Araxxi while ignoring the other spiders temporarily.
    • Priority: is used with second highest priority.
  • Darkness path open: Araxxi can use the darkness/spotlight special attack. If the light spawns across from the player in low or moderate enrage it is safe to ignore it, since you cannot walk through Araxxi to reach it easily, but it should be moved to at higher enrages. The damage dealt by the attack caps at 1,000 damage.
    • Priority: takes lowest priority.

The path-specific special attacks/mechanics also take priority over other special-attacks. She will not use the same attack consecutively; so one path-specific mechanic is followed up with the alternate one, or a standard special attack. Araxxi will most commonly use the cleave attack compared to cobwebs or cocoons.

Araxxi has 100,000 life points at the start of the phase. Once Araxxi reaches 50,000 life points she becomes enraged, stops using special attacks, and a soft cap is applied to damage dealt by the player. Try to get to this point as quickly as possible, if regular spider minions have been spawned these should be killed at this point.

A player fighting Araxxi with the "putrid acid" attack coming towards them (black sludge near the player)

At 25,000 life points (35,000 in duos) the player's soft damage cap is removed and their adrenaline halved, while Araxxi gains 20% enrage and releases a black sludge ball (2 balls of sludge in duos). The message Araxxi unleashes a putric acid wave! is displayed when this occurs. The sludge bounces around the player a minimum of five times before starting to hone in on them. If the sludge hits the player, then it deals increasing amounts of hard typeless damage continuously until the player moves at least one tile away from it. The sludge's bounce count is also reset after every successful hit. Using a powerburst of vitality after the black sludge has bounced two to five times means you essentially take half damage when it hits on you, allowing you a larger safety margin to move. Reprisal works well against this sludge since by the end of this ability the damage stored will help to kill off Araxxi.

Once Araxxi is defeated her corpse will turn into a chest that can be looted by the player(s). Any attacks that have already initiated will continue, but any spiders that are still alive will die off.
