Animal trophies are excavation hotspots at the Infernal Source - Vestibule of Futility south-east excavation site that players excavate after reaching level 81 Archaeology.

To reach them, select "3. The Source (Vestibule of Futility)" from the options when descending the lift at the Infernal Source Dig Site base camp, then proceed south and anticlockwise towards the east as shown in map.

The hotspots initially appear as fiery brimstone, requiring uncovering before becoming usable. Uncovering the hotspots yields a one-time reward of 211 Archaeology experience.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Like many parts of the Infernal Source, this excavation hotspot contains a reference to Dante's Inferno; in the first Canto, Dante is accosted by a she-wolf, a leopard, and a lion. The three trophies you can excavate here correspond to these animals, with the larupia standing in for the leopard.
  • Each artefact excavated from here and then restored is worth exactly 666 chronotes, a possible reference to the number being associated with the demonic in religion and popular culture.
