Achievement Paths interface

Achievement Paths were released on 18 April 2017. It can be found under the summary in the Achievements tab in the Hero interface, and can be undocked and moved elsewhere if desired. It directs players towards goals that require multiple smaller steps to complete.

There are variety of different path books, the main one accessible to all players, and area themed ones for Tutorial Island and Burthorpe for new players that serve as a tutorial. Most paths do not give any rewards other than those already given by individual path achievements, but some in the area path books do. Most path achievements do not necessarily need to be completed in the order they are shown in, but most those in the area path books do.

Path books[edit | edit source]

Path books were released on 2 September 2019. They were introduced as a way of separating paths for different areas and allowing for path suggestions based on the area the player is currently in. There are 3 path books.

Paths[edit | edit source]

There are a total of 3 paths in this path book. All paths are shown below with their respective objectives. Both paths and individual achievements can be pinned to the Activity Tracker.

Archaeology[edit | edit source]

There are 2 objectives for this path (showing 2).

Tutorial Island[edit | edit source]

The Tutorial Island path book is only used on Tutorial Island, and helps guide new accounts through the tutorial. Unlike other path books, there is only one path, and the individual achievements all share the same name "Tutorial Island" except for the final step in the path. Once this path is completed, the Call to Adventure path is begun automatically.

Burthorpe[edit | edit source]

The Burthorpe path book is accessed immediately after Tutorial Island (or if the player selects the "I've played before, but not in a while" option during character creation), and features players helping Turael the Slayer Master gear up to fight trolls. The tutorial itself consists of "Call to Adventure" through "Way of the Wizard", with the rest able to be optionally completed during the tutorial, or unlocked after its conclusion.

Call to Adventure[edit | edit source]

This path is triggered after finishing Tutorial Island.

There are 3 objectives for this path (showing 3).

During Quick Like a Bunny the player can select "Good. I'm ready to slay something else.", "I hated it. Please don't make me kill bunnies again.", or "Can I kill more rabbits? That was fun!" Selecting the final option will trigger Population Control to appear again while the other two options will continue on to the next path.

The player can select "I want to fish and cook crayfish on a fire." or "I want to cook rabbit on a range." at this point. The former will begin the Woodcutting & Firemaking path while the latter will begin the Cooking Meat on a Range path.

The Farming, Summoning, and Herblore paths can also be unlocked by killing trolls here and picking up the seeds, charms, and herbs dropped after Way of the Wizard.

After completing Just Trolling there will be two options given when returning to Turael, either "I'm ready to move on." or "That was fun. Can I kill some more trolls?". The former will continue on to But Wait, There's More while the latter will re-do Just Trolling.

  • patch 18 March 2020 (Update):
    • Previously, the Burthorpe and Taverley path books were hidden from 'experienced' players (at least 250 total level), but the achievements in these hidden paths could still be completed. These path books are now visible to all players, but Turael's new player paths in Burthorpe are now marked as complete if the player is 'experienced' or has turned off guidance system hints. (You can toggle guidance system hints, including contextual tutorial popups, in your Settings -> Gameplay -> General -> Optional Interfaces.) So if you're levelling a new alt and aren't interested in the tutorial achievements, you can simply flag them as complete.

      • The description for the guidance system hints toggle has been changed to 'Receive small tutorials and tips while playing. If disabled, the Burthorpe tutorial is treated as complete.'
    • Updated the Lumbridge path to stop referring to the Lumbridge Market bank chest as the Combat Academy bank chest.
    • Players who choose the pacifist route and allow Ariane to defeat Magic Stick without damaging the troll themselves will now still complete the Burthorpe introductory path.
    • The Recommended: Unlocked Ancient Curses achievement no longer appears as blank in the Activity Tracker if selected from the Achievement Path window.

The backpack/worn equipment is now only brought to front if an item is currently being highlighted in that inventory.
    • Corrected an issue where achievement path window could draw before stats were transmitted to the client, resulting in some achievements that required skills drawing as if all skills are level 1.
  • patch 18 November 2019 (Update):
    • The X/Y tracker for an achievement path in the activity tracker heading now displays the selected achievement in the path, not the completed achievements in the path.
    • To keep the systems in sync, selecting a locked or completed achievement in the path window now also selects this achievement in the activity tracker.
    • Content icons in the activity tracker now display a padlock over locked achievements and a tick over completed achievements, in a similar fashion to the achievement path window.
