Abyssal bane square shield detail.png

An Abyssal bane square shield is a tier 79 melee shield. It is a bane square shield + 4 that has been upgraded with an abyssal whip. It requires level 80 Defence to wear.

Making an abyssal bane square shield requires a bane square shield + 4, 1 abyssal whip, and 4,000 progress, granting a total of 4,000 experience. It can be augmented to an augmented abyssal bane square shield.

While fighting abyssal demons, the abyssal bane square shield applies a thorns effect, in the same manner as armour spikes - adjacent targets that hit the wearer have damage dealt back to them (it is not a reflect nor does the damage scale with the damage done by the attacker).

This item degrades to a broken, repairable state over 50,000 charges of combat. The base repair cost is 600,000 coins for a full repair, which is scaled to how damaged it is. It can be repaired by a Repair NPC, or for cheaper on an armour stand/whetstone.

Repair cost[edit | edit source]

The base repair cost of the Abyssal bane square shield when completely degraded to 0.0% item charge is 600,000 coins. It can be repaired by:

Alternatively, it can be repaired on an armour stand in a player-owned house, or a whetstone device anywhere. This provides a discount of 0.5% per Smithing level (including boosts).

If it is only partially degraded, then the cost of a full repair is multiplied by the percentage of item charge that needs to be repaired to produce the current repair cost.
